Weissenhof Grotesk

The type family is inspired by the Weissenhofsiedlung (Weissenhof estate) that was built in 1927 as one of the best examples of the new, modern architecture in Germany – an architecture without any ornament, using basic geometric forms. 17 architects, among them Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius, created a model housing programme for the modern urbanite. A minimum of form should guarantee a maximum of freedom. (Stefanie Schwarz & Dirk Wachowiak, 2015) Weissenhof Grotesk was released by the Indian Type Foundry
